High School Championship swimmer for Cascade Swim Club and Nathan Hale Raiders Competed in the National Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Swimming Championships as a junior and senior Competed in the US Olympic Swimming Trials in 1968 as an incoming Senior, placing 16th in the 200 M Breaststroke College Swam for University of Washington from 1969-1973, placing in the top 6 in his events each year Four-time All-American Swam in 1970 World Student Games in Italy Named 1971 co-winner of Seattle P-I Man of the Year Award (with sister Lynn) Other Qualified for the US Olympic Team in 1972 and 1976 Bronze medal in the 200-meter breaststroke at 1976 Montreal Olympics Holds over 70 Masters Swimming World Records Received David Yorzyk Memorial Award in 2008 from U.S. Masters Swimming
