High School Competed in swimming for the Lynx Member of the US Olympics’ 800M relay team as a senior College Undefeated three-time national collegiate champion for the University of Washington in three individual events – a record not broken until 1977 Held 11 world records (from 200M to 1 mile) Won 17 AAU championships Earned University of Michigan varsity letter from Michigan’s coach after taking enough points from other teams for them to win Nationals Professional Returned to US Olympic team in 1936, winning the gold medal (400M freestyle) and two silver medals (1500M freestyle; 4x200M freestyle relay) Competed internationally after graduation, traveling all over the world Other Focused on coaching at Columbia University and University of Pennsylvania Inducted into the Husky Hall of Fame International Swimming Hall of Fame Inductee
